Research interests: Algorithms, computational complexity, combinatorial and discrete optimisation, submodular functions, constraint satisfaction.

Short bio: I read computer science in the Czech republic, Netherlands, Finland, and England. Before moving to Warwick, I spent 6 years at Oxford: three years as a PhD student working on my doctoral thesis “The complexity and expressive power of valued constraints” that won the 2011 ACP doctoral research award and was then published by Springer as a monograph and three years as a stipendiary Junior Research Fellow in Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Oxford's University College.

Trivia: I go by Standa, which is a commonly used Czech variant of Stanislav read as “stun-da” /'stʌnda/. My last name in LaTeX: \v{Z}ivn\'y. I support The INCTR Challenge Fund.
